"Polearm Gamble" errata December 2009

Istar

First Post
Striker biased Warden at level 8 looking forward to Polearm Gamble at L11.

Did not know there was any errat to this power but I just saw something today to say there was an Errata way back in 2009.

Power reads in handbook that an enemy that "enters" - which is move or shift - a square adjacent to PC, you get an OA.

Certainly nothing in the Warden guide about it being nerfed.

But note I just saw hinted that enemy shifting into an adjacent square do not trigger the feat.

Can someone confirm for me, so I play the rule correctly.

And then I guess i would need to know any useful tactics to use in light of this change which looks to have taken place.

Polearm Gamble

Prerequisites: Str 15, Wis 15, Level 11+
Benefit: When a nonadjacent enemy enters a square adjacent to you, you can make an opportunity attack with a polearm against that enemy, but you grant combat advantage to that enemy until the end of the enemy’s turn.
Notes: According to WOTC, due to the wording of the feat, entering the square includes shifting. However, it still does not include forced movement such as a push, pull or slide. It must be "active" movement.
Notes2: The power was fixed by the december 2009 errata. Since then it doesn´t work in shifting.
No word on whether teleporting into the square triggers the feat.
Also, as a reminder (to address a commonly asked question with this feat), you cannot take opportunity attacks during your turn, even if an enemy moves during your turn.

Is was a silly initial power description with "enter" as it didnt say move or shift then, and "enter" can be any and everything that gets you to that square.

However I cannot find this Dec 2009 rules update ??

The important information is that teleport, forced movement, and shift all bypass opportunity attacks, and polearm gamble doesn't specifically override any of those things.

Works just fine, otherwise.

Now I get it, thanks for that.
Would have been easier if they had put something about that in the power.

But it all makes sense now, cheers
