Can I pick "neither"? I missed the "gehreleth" name from Planescape days, and am ambivalent about it (what are they, Lou Gehrig's fiends?); and I seem to remember thinking demodand was kind of lame sounding when the MM2 (the 1e MM2, that is) first came out.

Any other options? "Demoleth" sounds way too much like "demolish" said with a lisp, and "dandeleth" sounds like they're related to dandelions or something. ;)

Gehreleths, baby, YEAH! Off-topic, was anyone else as amused as I was to see the tarry demonand (or what-have-you) depicted in the recent Dragon article on lower-planar dragons? Whetting the apetite for their triumphant return in the 3e Fiend Folio - WOO HOO! :)

I use Gehreleth, myself.

A--"Demodand" sounds a bit strange...I expect them to be frogs, and 'dandy'....so, frogs with tuxedoes....I guess.

B-- Bias. I was introduced to the planes in PS, and I love the setting dearly.

C -- Consistency. Gehreleth are a type of Demon. Ditto for the Yugoloths being a type of Devil.

Off-Topic: I also prefer *anything* to Daemon, as it's too frickin' close to Demon. Daemoloth actually sounds pretty sweet to me...and keeps them seeming like they have counterparts in the 'leths (leth vs. loth). I think it'll be daemoloth for me from now on! :)

I think there's too many freakin' demon type things anyways. I never even use any of them. I just call them all "demons" even the "devils".

Gehreleth all the way baby!

Between having "demons" "daemons" and "demodands" I got so sick of hearing the same basic word (demon) get mangled so many ways. Maybe there are some historical/mythological basis for the different names, but as far as I'm concerned, they're too alike. Gehreleth is sooo much better!

Gehredand.

Both. Or neither.

As mentioned in the other thread, I tend to use old school as the generic term, new school as specific families. Also, old-school = "clueless term", new-school = term that the race is known by by those in the know or the race itself.

That said, I never use Gehereleths, so its a moot point.
