Poll: Most popular ranged weapons in your game

The ones that see the most use in my campaign are repeating crossbows, light & heavy crossbows, and a couple rifles and revolvers.

The Lasher's +2 shocking burst mighty composite (+4) whip dagger probably wins the favored ranged weapon in the game I run. 3 attacks of electric death on a full attack (and he doesn't even hit the paladin in the back anymore )

There's such a thing as a composite whip dagger? Is it in S&F? (that could be why I don't recognise it, because I don't use the S&F weapons much...)

Well, maybe it's just mighty, now that you mention it. We did get it from Sword & Fist, however.

Fireball.

It is the most used ranged weapon in the group.
( Well, was. My new game hasn't started yet, and it won't
be available for a while yet. )

I have 7 characters in the group for which I DM. Here is the breakdown of which one uses which ranged weapon.


Human Barbarian: Composite Longbow [+4]. He has a 19 Str.

Elf Ranger/Rogue/Fighter: Longbow.

Wild Elf Wizard: Longbow.

Dwarf Cleric: Light Crossbow.

Human Paladin: Heavy Crossbow.

Human Monk: Light Crossbow.

Gnome Fighter/Cleric: Light Crossbow.


I voted crossbow since it wins by 4 characters to 3. But it is close. The bad guys use alot of javelins.

Early on, there were a lot of crossbows fired. Now, everybody wades in except the sorceress (who fires flaming spheres and magic missiles all the time) and me, sitting back with my shortbow.

Well, it's technically a shortbow, but the GM has given me a shortbow that does the same damage as a long bow. No other magics, so it's not particularly munchkiny, I just get to save on weight. Still, with that, Point Blank Shot, and Bracers of Archery, I'm a real bad-ass with the bow, and since I'm an elf-boy, I'm probably headed towards Arcane Archer eventually.
