Poll on starting ages for RPG?

age 12, 1984 Marvel Superheroes Role Playing Game Basic set. First game I ever played was run by my best friends Uncle. There was just the 3 of us.

I also got into Battletech that year as well. Between these two games I had 47 100 page spiral notebooks filled with Characters and Mech designs. I wish I still had those...

I played my first AD&D game in January 85 at the local library. It wasnt that fun, mainly because it was a horrid DM. I played because I wanted to see why my mother was so rabidly against it, being evil and all. Since I didnt instantly go to hell I continued to play until we moved in 86.

It was, I think, 1978. That would make me 11 or 12 years old at the time.

There have definitely been threads like this before, but I don't recall a poll. It might be tough to come up with good poll choices, especially with people like Sniffles as outliers.

'78, I was 29. Started with D&D and Traveller the same day. And both almost turned me off of gaming RPGs forever. But things got better.

Think it was '96, maybe 95 or 97. 8th grade, possibly late 7th or early 9th. So, um, age 14, 15, or 16. Started with AD&D 2E.

Reagan was in charge, cold war was still on. That's all I remember. I'm 33 now.
