Any word on Dungeon supporting non-WotC settings such as Scarred Lands or The Forge? Would be great to give some of these worlds more exposure to gamers out there.

Tweet basically updated Gamma World to d20 - I have the Omega World issue of Polyhedron as well as a few different editions of Gamma World. They are not that different. People played Gamma World long term, and they can play Omega World long term.

Perhaps the point is that what works in the market as a long-term game isn't the same now as it was 20 years ago. People's tastes and expectations change.

I read what Tweet said; he would have said the same thing about Gamma World. That doesn't mean he's right.

Well, you asked whether he intended for it to be a long-term game. He came right out and said no, it isn't intended to be a long-term game. I'm not sure how much more you want.

I use both sides.

I LOVE most of the Polyhedron issues since the combining of the two magazines. LOVE.

I honestly run MAYBE one module from Dungeon out of every three issues I buy.

But honestly, I love them together. Two great tastes...

Edit: PS: that subscription "break" sounds harsh and really questionable. Sucks, Bagpuss.

Okay, so I got the name wrong. It's Polyhedron.
If I liked it/used it, maybe I'd remember the name.

Now with D20 Modern, Spycraft, etc, why don't they put all of that together for a separate Polyhedron Magazine?

The reason is because, as every one knows, Polyhedron would
die without Dungeon. Even though Polyhedron has now had
the best advertising it could possibly get in the Dungeons and Dragons universe by being forcibly attached to Dungeon, if
Polyhedron tried to survive on its own as a magazine, it would
die. On the other hand, Dungeon would do just fine.

If Polyhedron were free, I wouldn't have a problem with that. However, the editor of Dungeon has said that the addition of Polyhedron was the major reason for the price increase in the magazine.

You guys seem to like it. Okay, that's fine. To me, it's a
parasite, and it will remain that way until somebody has
the guts to put it out into the world to stand on its own legs.

I like Dungeon for the adventures and crunchy bits that come along with it (NPC's, maps, etc.), and I like Polyhedron for the minigames. It's a nice break from D&D. I get burned out every once in a while and the d20 games are a nice change of pace.

Plus they're usually good for stealing something from. I'm running a post-apocalyptic games using a combo of Darwin's world and Omega world and so far so good. I really like the "secondary hp" mechanic (forget what it's called)

And at some point I plan on runnning a Dragonstar game. You can bet I'll be stealing some stuff from the Spelljammer mini-game.

In point of fact, BOTH magazines were in serious danger of being cancelled before they were combined. The move saved BOTH of them.

Right now, together, the magazine is doing fine. Split it apart and it's anyone's guess.

But by all means, if that would make life more convenient for you, do keep pushing.

As stated in another post, I have purchased Dungeon sporadically (until 3E, where I have purchased each issue), and have just subscribed to both Dragon and Dungeon.

That said, I am fine with the current status of Dungeon/Polyhedron, I have found material in Polyhedron that drops nicely into other d20 games I run (Judge Dredd and homebrew 40K) and the mecha issue already has handy material. The Dungeon side is always useful to me as well, and being an oldschool gamer, we had modules where you: read what is in the box to the players and utilize the text afterwards to resolve the situation, quite the novel concept! And if I don't run an adventure, the maps and NPC/monster stat blocks are handy.

To me, Dragon and Dungeon (even with Dragon #300) have more useful articles per issue than most any magazine out there (I don't mean d20 magazine, I am comparing the information per article as compared to other periodicals I peruse). Sure, I cannot and don't plan on using, everything, however, I usually read through both periodicals and garner a lot of useful information.

Dungeon and Polyhedron are kind of like Siamese twins.

Together, they're a bit scary, and a bit weird. (Polyhedron is a new thing attached to the end of Dungeon, and is upside down)

But if you were to take them apart, you'd be losing so much.

Dungeon wouldn't have his brother Polyhedron.

Polyhedron might wither and die without his twin Dungeon.

Are you willing to take that risk?
