Paramount has recently indicated an interest in remaking the much acclaimed Saturday Night Fever and its spawn Staying Alive, which originally starred John Travolta as Tony Manero. John Travolta will obviously be unable to reprise the starring role, and there's talk that they'll give it more of a darker tone in the remakes.

So, without Travolta to helm this powerhouse production, who should take his place in the role of Tony Manero?

Darker than Saturday Night Fever?

It's a pretty grim story.

I picked Johnny Depp, but really everyone on this list but Freddy Prinze is way too old.

Tony Manero is John Travolta, Indiana Jones is Harrison Ford, Michael Corleone is Al Pacino, Spock is Leonard Nimoy, Annie Hall is Diane Keaton , etc.

For many reasons, some characters will always be associated with certain actors, and it would be perfectly absurd to ignore that fact.

I can't really see ANYONE else in that role...but I went with Johnny Depp, since he's great at disappearing in a role and looking different every time. He's the only one of those I think that could POSSIBLE do it...

I choose Marky Mark simply because he seems to fit the role...

Actually, if I could Just add a name,

Depending on his acting talent.. Justin Timberlake would probably be pretty good, of course they'd have to grow out his fro again...

He can dance!!

As poorly as remakes seem to do in general, why on earth would they do this? They could probably take the same budget and gamble on a few smaller movies and make as much or more money.

My sister loves Saturday Night Fever and John Travolta while I never really enjoyed them that much. I cannot see anybody filling his dance shoes. Is a remake really necessary?

I'd think the obvious choice would be Christian Bale.

Did anyone see Newsies?
As I understand, he's a natural when it comes to dancing.
Yeah, but let's see Christian Bale pull off a line like:

"Would ya just watch the hair. Ya know, I spend a long time on my hair and he hit it; he hit my hair."

My question is: In the warped minds of Hollywood, I can see why they'd want to redo Saturday Night Fever. But why Staying Alive? Now, I never saw Staying Alive, but I hear no one else did either.
