I don't understand why people would oppose the amendments to the D20 license. It seems only sensible for the license to be periodically amended in order to ensure that D20 label products are something people can feel good about putting under the Christmas tree.

WOTC has graciously created unprecedented opportunities for third party publishers to be associated with their product; naturally, there are conditions. If I were to find something to object to in the agreement it would probably be requirements for certain unpleasant game mechanics not basic quality control standards any reputable publisher would seek to maintain.

The problem with the new license is that the descriptions are vauge enough to mean that if someone at WotC doesn't like your product, they can decide to revoke the license. Further, there is no limit on this in regards to time or any method by which they will review and approve the product. I can't see why a third party company would take the risk in using that license.

It won't be the BOEF that really causes it to break down. It will be a 'serious' product that will get pulled. I fear that between the fractioning of the market with the revision and this change which goes against the spirit of the OGL the golden age of 3e D&D is soon to be over.

I'm in the camp that is buying it to support Anthony Valterra and his efforts against the ridiculous new d20 license.

Now that is funny.

The evil d20 license that rejuvinated an industry and allowed the creation of how many publishers?

True, publisher's can sell their material based only on the good will of WotC. That isn't Nazi-ism. The d20 license is not community property. A company that does what it can to protect its interests and what it believes to be the best interest of the industry isn't inherrently evil.

If publisher's don't like it. They can publish their own rules or go OGC. AV decided the latter. Good for him.

All this blasted contraversy.
I might be getting a free copy. The winner of the contest i'm running is getting a free one.
I'll buy one REGARDLESS just to drive up sales and to stick it to wotc for being so controlling.

I didn't vote because my selection isn't included in the choices, which is "Yes, I'll buy it. My campaign has occasional erotic elements, though the story doesn't depend on them, plus the book will have much non-erotic, non-sexual usefullness."

I rarely get the chance to use the books I already have. None of my players have the time.
I might, might, get the BoEF, but only as an oddity. I can't see too many similar products ever getting published. Can you?
I can't see myself ever using it in a campaign, and if I needed soft core porn that badly, there's plenty to be had online.

Maybe a spell or rule that wasn't necessarily about sex could end up in my game, but I just don't see the material being usefull for me, especially since the majority of my group is on the young (or at least sophomoric) side.
Well, younger than me anyway.

I most likely won't buy it as it would serve no purpose in my game, or in any game I would bother playing.

Barsoomcore's "elf porn" argument is, however, compelling :p

You see, there are so many compelling things to roleplay that have nothing to do with a roll in the hay, I don't know how many groups would feel the need to even bother.

I'd have to tie a blind, anemic kobold carrying a magic sword he isn't big enough to use to the farmer's daughter before my players would follow her to bed. Getting them to roleplay ANYTHING is like getting the REAL 3.5 Gift Set release date from WoTC; "ain't nobody talkin'."
Getting them to roleplay an intimate relationship, physical or otherwise, is something I am not interested in doing, nor would I be successful if I tried. :)

Edit: Should I even try to spell at this time of night? Ugh.

I'm not gonna buy it. Aside from my ever-waning interest in D20-like products, I just can't see a reason to buy it. Certainly no moral reason to buy it, or not buy it. It's a game book. It's not so mind-bogglingly rare or unusual that it would even merit a novelty purchase. I'd save a novelty purchase for something like My Life With Master from HalfMeme Press. There's a ton of gaming stuff out there that already has my gaming dollar. My money is better spent on Heroclix and gaming books I would actually use. Porn I can get online for free. Er, so I've been told.

And Anthony Valterra creeps me out.
