Central California Gaming Convention

I am running three RIFTS events and two Call of Cthulhu events at PolyCon which is a tremendously cool college convention and my favorite gaming event of the year. This year's theme is Vikings!

Lots of Pathfinder and RPGA events too!

PolyCon happens Friday June 24th through Sunday June 26th on the California central coast at the California Polytechnic University campus in San Luis Obispo. If you live anywhere on the West Coast, its worth the visit. It's a 3 hour drive from San Francisco or Los Angeles.

This is its 29th year and it gets about 300 attendees with a very strong RPG presence. Check out the huge variety of RPG events on their website.

PolyCon is a very mellow, friendly non-profit convention run by students and alumni. Also, central California is great for a family vacation or romantic escape because of the beautiful seashore, mineral spas, historic missions, Hearst Castle and the 300+ Paso Robles vineyards. AKA, you can game all weekend and your non-gaming significant whatevers will have plenty of fun around town with your credit card!

There are many hotels in the area, or you can stay on campus in the dorms. Yeah, dorm room flashbacks for only $70/night!

Since 1983? I grew up in San Diego and never knew about this! Man do I wish I was in the area for PolyCon!

You're not kidding about central cali, it's beautiful... and if you're looking for cheaper off campus buy very warm and interesting there's the Hostel Obispo. I spent a thanksgiving nigh there once and they had a wonderful "community" dinner. Great folks, and I suspect a closest gamer or two ;)

Now I'd like to see a con at the Madonna Inn, myself.

You arrive at three doors.

Do you (a) go to the Gold Rush steak house for an oak pit barbecued steak & seafood dinner in romantic fucha decor... to plan your assault on Nightwyrm's fortress?

Do you (b) head for a drink at the intimate handcarved Silver Bar to enjoy some live music...while you lament the late Black Leaf?

Do you (c) mozy down to the quaint horseshoe shaped Copper Cafe to enjoy red leather seats and Danish puff pastries...while making "gazebo" and "magic missile" jokes?

Me? I choose D: the European style swimming pool. :)
