Polymorphed character with an animal compaion/familiar/mount

In my campaign, the PC druid has been baleful polymorphed into a rabbit (body and mind). What happens regarding his animal companion?

I ruled that the animal companion (badger), being used to seeing its master change into various animals, would continue to act like the rabbit's companion (much to the rabbit's dismay). Of course the rabbit can't command or handle the badger, but the badger could try to protect the rabbit from predators in the wild.

So, aside from how I ruled in this instance, with nothing to go on, what would happen between a druid, mage, or paladin and their animal companion, familiar, or celestial mount?

Well, between the druid and animal companion, i would say as you did -- the companion is used to seeing the druid in other forms... no reason this should be that different.

As for the mage and paladin and their respective companions (familiar and horse), i would say that since it is a magical bond between them, the form of either remains intact.

Just my thoughts anyway

One thing to note - if a wizard fails his save, he loses his [Su] abilities... which includes his Empathic Link with his familiar.

His familiar may be accustomed to seeing the wizard change forms... but regardless of form, he can always 'feel' the wizard through the Link.

This time, though, the rabbit doesn't 'feel' like his master.

Familiars and Paladin's Mounts both have the Empathic Link ability, but Animal Companions do not. So I'd actually think there'd be less confusion involved for a Companion than for a Familiar or Mount...

On a tangent, if the druid succeeded his secondary save to keep his mind and su abilities etc, then he could wildshape from a rabbit to a bear, tiger or whatever he wanted as normal, but when he wanted to revert to his natural shape, would he become the rabbit again?

And by the wording of natural spell, he wouldn't be able to cast as his 'natural form' of the rabbit, but he'd be able to cast spells if he wildshaped into a bear?

That all looks accurate.

Actually I think when he wildshapes back, he becomes a human being. His natural form is never rabbit - it's always "human being". Baleful polymorph is permanent, not instant, so it doesn't change the essential nature of things.

He reverts back by ending the Wildshape. The Baleful Polymorph is still in effect.

Wildshape doesn't allow him to change into his "natural form" - it enables him to change into an animal/elemental form "and back again".

"The Wizard baleful polymorphs you, you turn into a rabbit but are able to partially resist his foul magics and retain your own mind"

"I dispel myself"

"You can't, you've been polymorphed.. the natural spell feat doesn't apply."

"Er.. ok, I wildshape into a rabbit so he doesn't realize anything is up, then I dispel myself !"

"..."

It just seems so wrong ;)
