This does not work well. The familiar has to stay within 5 feet of the Wizard for a share spell and that will almost never happen in the game.

I apologize in advance for hijacking this thread...

What if the shapechange'd familiar entered a portable hole or similar extradimensional space? Is it more than 5 feet away if the inter-dimensional opening is within 5 feet?
