Portable Hole

First Post
Hey there. I was wondering how to do this. I'm sure I could make a magic item of some sort to cause this effect, but I was wondering if it might be easier.

Is there a spell that I can use to create Air INSIDE my Portable Hole? If there was a way to do this permanently, how cool would that be? I thought of polymorphing into a construct template, but that doesn't help with lanturns and such.

Put a Bottle of Air in there. The PCs in my Eberron game have a portable hole which includes a bottle of air, a table, a pack of cards, a shelf of books, and a couple of continual flame torches. Makes any time they need to spend in there really comfy.

I've always wanted a Leomund's Tiny Hut item that I could pack up in the morning and sleep in at night. Move my non-magical stuff in there and find it where I left it. Portable Hole with air could be quite dangerous. Don't give your DM too much....

I reckon a wand of deep breath is possible in theory - It'd be funny to see though.

Being a sor/wiz spell as well, it is indeed possible. The wand would cost 375 g to make. It also qualifies for persistent metamagic feat so it can be made to run for 24 hours. But still...it's not quite what I'm looking for.

The Bottle of Air idea is a good idea though, but it doesn't "fill the room with air." You have to breath out of the bottle according to the item description, and it never runs out of air and continually renewed. Our party still can't camp in there, unless the DM would allow me to make a more powerful version that spits out infinite air.

I'm wondering what the effect would be if I left an Air Elemental on guard in there? Would that work, or would he die?

If you're in Eberron, binding an air elemental to a Khyber dragonshard might do the trick.

One thing to keep in mind is that magic items don't have to perfectly mimic the spells used in their creation — and in many cases, they don't. Making an item that simply replenishes the air in a specific volume (say, a 10-foot cube) shouldn't be that hard. Talk to your DM about whether or not such an item is feasible, and work out a reasonable cost. As long as the effect takes some time, your DM won't have to worry about you using it to defeat gas traps or spells like acid fog.

Haha. I hadn't thought of it like that. I may be over complicating things. Thanks LonePal.

While Daern's Instant Fortress is an option, most DM's wouldn't let you keep stuff in it while reduced.

Another option is to own a gargantuan permanently animated object (that can serve as an RV and be left parked somewhere within 100 miles of the dungeon), then use ring gates and a portable hole to pass freely between the locations.
