Portal / permanent Gate question ?

I would like to ask you guys a question.

Is there any "Rules" for making/breaking Portals to other Planes?
(Preferably by WotC.)

I have the Manual of the Planes and read the Seal Portal spell,
but that spell can simply be Dispelled.
I want more permanent "solution".

I suspect that there might be something in Stronghold Builder's Handbook.

Can't speak for the Stronghold book but Forgotten realms has a Create Portal feat and rules for making portals.

Making portals is the province of the Craft Portal feat, originally from the FRCS but later showing up in the ELH's non-epic feat section. As for destroying a portal, you should look into Mordenkainen's Disjunction, your one-stop shop for breaking anything magical.

It occurs to me, though, that you may be talking about breaking naturally-occuring portals rather than crafted ones, in which case Disjunction wouldn't help (I don't think). You might want to look into crafting an item which generates an antimagic field then placing that item near the portal.

I checked my FRCS and I'm quite satisfied with the information.


I couldn't find the Feat in ELH, though.
Not a problem.
