Portrait of the Dungeonmaster as a Young Man

WizarDru

Adventurer
So it's no secret that my son loves to play with my MasterMaze and Hirst Arts pieces. But in this picture, he's assembled his own dungeon, which he identifies as such, and then proceeds to lead his mother through an adventure in said dungeon, using our D&D minis for the party and monsters. "Yes! It is a trap. It is very dangerous. Most impressive."

Proud? Hell YEAH, I'm proud.

That's MY boy. :D

Awesome, Druby, awesome. Great pic, cute kid, killer dungeon.

And he already has that "You're next!" look so well suited for a future RBDM.

I love the devilishly proud grin. Very cool.

My 9 year old brother made his own dungeon game with cardboard and markers and using his Heroscape figures. It's awesome to see the young follow in the geeky footsteps of the old!!!

His favorite piece is off-camera here, I think...Scorch made a 'secret-wall' test piece that I just love, with a section of wall that rotates on an axis.

Last night, after his bath, we had this conversation:

Him: "Do Red Dragons breath Fire?"
Me: "Yes, they do. They're Evil dragons, just like Smaug."
Him: "What about Black Dragons?"
Me: "They breathe acid, Boss."
Him: "Oh. Are they bad, too?"
Me: "Yup, sure are. They're both evil dragons."
Him: "What do Blue Dragon breathe? Do they breath fire?"
Me: "Nope. They breath LIGHTNING!"
Him: "Yeah. Lightning. buch-ow! buch-ow!*"
(*-that's a lightning sound effect there).
Him: "What about Gold Dragons?"
Me: "They breathe...they breathe fire, too, Boss."
Him: "But they're not bad, Daddy. They're Good."
Me: "That's right. They're the good guys. They fight the bad dragons."
Him: "Yeah. And I think they can breathe whatever they want when they CRUSH the bad guys! Rawwwrr!"

So, yeah, the apple don't fall far from the tree, now do it? :)

Alert – Be Aware of Minor Hijack

I’ve got a pair of friends who had a baby back in Nov. Both are gamers and RenFair enthusiasts – they were costumes and the hole 9 Yards. Their baby will probably follow in their footsteps as well. Baby gamers and MiniMe DMs all over the place.

In the mean time, we’ve decide next time we game with minis, their baby is going on the mat as a Colossal Dire Legendary Giant Baby Beast.
