Possible ebay piracy?

At one time, there was an email address for WOTC's legal department on their website. It was part of their FAQ.

But honestly, I gave up trying to report the ones I came across long ago. Just too many, and Ebay doesn't really seem to care. They also seem to turn a blind eye to software piracy and counterfeit stuff of all stripes. I got suckered buying a counterfeit Gameboy cart on there. I complained. Then 3 months later, I get a message from ebay saying that the auction was indeed counterfeit and that I should not pay for the auction. Except I had, months earlier.

Go to Wizards.com.

Click on "Corporate Info" on the sidebar.

Click on "Contact Info" on the sidebar. It'll redirect you to a pseudo-message board page.

Click on the "Email Us" tab.

At this point, I think you have to make a login for their support page, but after that I think you can actually send an email to customer support.

I did that, and got the result I mentioned. But when I called them, they were very interested to hear about it. I got the impression over the phone that this is definately not a legit auction. Of course, I doubt any action will be taken by the time the auction ends, but at least I feel like I did the right thing.

The one in which he legally baught the PDF and is reselling it.

This might not be the situation, but if it was the situation, he'd be fine.

Considering that WotC has not released a PDF of the Monster Manual... (Check out Drivethrurpg.com - all the official 3.X PDF releases are there.)

Then he deserves whatever punishment The Man decides to inflict on him. Charging for someone else's work is the very essence of what copyright laws do *right*. Bad bad man. Cut off his hand, old-school style.

I checked out a few of his previous auctions as well, and it seems that he has sold some of the same ebooks multiple times, so I don't think he buys them and then sells his copies before deleting them.
