Possible new job would have pay cut -update! I got the job!

I wouldn't. It's a non-profit that has offices at GMU. I wouldn't be University staff. I would be some guy who happens to work near co-eds.
You say that like it's a bad thing...

He doesn't have the job yet, it's pending. If he gets it, it will be a 10% pay cut compared to his last job. Right, BG?
That's not a pay cut! Sheesh, what twisted logic! It's like he's looking for an excuse not to take the job. If you have no job, any salary is a 100% pay increase. No amount of back-asswards logic will change that. It doesn't mean it's a great deal or anything, but don't look at the 10% pay "cut" as an excuse.

If you have a minimum salary to accept a position, then say so to the employer. That's a lot different and heck, you might actually get it.

Take it. Being out of work sucks. The personal frustration from being unemployed is far worse than the aggravation of being underpaid. I speak from personal experience - At one point a few years back I was out of work for a long while and when I finally got a job it was about 20% less than I'd been making, and the benefits weren't as good. It was still better than the alternative.

Which GMU?

GIGGIDY-GIGGIDY-GOO! Why is this even a question?! 10% off the top is well worth it. ;)

George Mason U. I think I would be at some kind of satililte though. Across the street is an office park which is where most of the people in the company do the work.

Well, things are developing. They're now going over my background with a fine tooth comb.

That's a good sign. Good luck!

I'm a Java programmer.

Cool, I'll keep my ears open. I work for a small IT consulting firm. We do mostly infrastructure and management, some web dev, but we interact with a lot of other companies, and I often hear when they are looking. I know one place looking for a good DBA right now.

I don't know have much to say other we're here for you.

Being out of work sucks, so is doing a job you dislike. What are the benefits like?
