D&D 3E/3.5 Possible Solution for Converting 3.5 Minis?

I was wondering...

...do any of you think it would be a good idea if WotC does to DDM 1.0 conversions as they did with Chainmail (but actually stay consistent :p)?

As new DDM 2.0 minis come out, they will undoubtedly have the same names as older minis (DDR will have plenty of basic 4.0 Monster Manual creatures, right? I'm looking at the Beholder). Couldn't these older minis serve as proxies in DDM 2.0? I mean... why not, really? Especially since they'll probably have 2.0 stat cards downloadable anyway... couldn't many of our old minis still eventually and potentially be useful in the new skirmish game after all?

If they do plan it this way, I imagine the 60 all-star champions would wind up being special minis they most likely won't make again. Orc Champion, Ryld, aspects of Greyhawk, 3e iconics (assuming they make new iconics, Idunno) and Drizzt come to mind.

Like most things 4e, though, I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
