Possibly a stupid question, but. . .

In my current campaign I have created: items, both magic and mundane; monsters and animals, including the Children of Grummish (I always spell that wrong) who are boar/orc centaur-like creatures; one or two spells; and a couple of deities and demigods. I think that is all, but I would have to check my notes.

I've always liked creating new things for a game. It goes back all the way to my first campaign of Traveller. If you can't tweak the game, where's the fun in it?

How many of you create your own magic items/monsters/spells/feats/PrCs/etc from wholecloth?
What say you? :D

I frequently do a lot of homebrewing of magic items, feats, and Prestige Classes. Base Classes and Mosters I tend to simply modifiy from somethign that already exists, changing out this aspect or that one. When it comes to magic its all or nothing. I either use a completly seperate magic system or I stick with the standard one and find spells I need from other sources.

However, over time I have learned that the less I make up the less hassle it will be to stick other things in. If I want to run an adventure from Dungeon, for example, its a lot easier to do that if I have n't done a ton of homebrewing. A class, a feat or three, an item here or there - these are easier to fit into prexisting materials. Thus I am still working on a blance between what I make up completly (for my own enjoyment and the desire of my players) and what I take from published materials, which saves time and energy.
