possibly insane gencon idea. takers?

I for one would love to see some pictures of those other three ships Alsih2o.

BTW, my wife loved the pot. As soon as I can scare up a digital camera I'll send you a pick of how she's using it. :)

I think it sounds like a very cool idea. If you get it off the ground, I'd be happy to be one of the DM's.

Is the ship going to "break apart" so you can have multiple decks accessible at all times?

Also, do you think it would be best to go with a "fantasy earth" feel? The way I see it, you could go three ways:

A) Straight D&D, make the boat belong to some overlord, but without any clear connections to the real boat.

B) Historical, so no spell-casting classes on either side; the attackers could be Portuguese sailors, possibly allied with Arabian naval forces.

C) Fantasy Earth, as (B) but with spellcasters and other fantasy embellishments.

You are a mad Potter. Which is good and I approve.

Still working out if I can for sure make it to Gen Con this year but if I can, I'm up for DMing this puppy.

i think 3 decks. and A works best i think, let's us all have more fun.

i think angcuru is thinking of a fancier boat than i am, just some siding, some brass tacks, glue and sails, some masts. not super detailed ot it gets very hard to move minis around.

thanks ashrum, tell her i said hi, i would love to see a pic :)

As I sit here partaking of a tasy smoothie made from raspberry ice cream, grape juice, and 2% milk, I think to myself: no super detail? horrors!

Now I feel motivated to design and build the same thing, but with fine attention to detail and all that. Don't know where I'm going to get the time to do it...OH WAIT! Spring semester is just two weeks away... :D Free time ahoy!

Fine, you make your barebones mini-bearing ship, while I shall construct SUCH a ship, as will be worthy of.....well.....something grand.

Maybe I should get some sleep, I haven't done that in a while....

i have directions for building an appropriate woodbender if you need them. and a few catalogs required for some fo the finer woodworking tools. and i know where to get the little mini-chisels (i own a set of electric ones, great stuff!)

just let me know.

IF you do it, be forewarned, many detailed model ship builders calculate 2.4 hours to the inch for deck length. there are some cool kits available- http://www.model-ships.com/
