I am reading through CoS now and I think Post Strahd should, or at least could, focus on the Amber Temple. It might serve as a way to deal with other domains or just to keep Strahd from returning.

I think Horrors From Beyond Time And Space can work well to scare high-level players. Heck, have you gone adventuring in the 9 Hells or the Abyss lately? Those places can be really scary because they don't follow the same laws of physics. Sure, you can teleport away from a monster, but where are you going to go? Back to another monster? And what are you going to do about the worm growing inside your brain? The greater restoration didn't work...

Actually, it occurred to me today "What if the PCs stayed in Barovia?' What if they moved into Castle Ravenloft and remodeled the place (throw out the dead things, gave it a paint job, added some tasteful throw pillows) and kept a watch on the crypt for the possible return of Strahd (so they surprise him, he doesn't surprise them)? What if they burned the castle down? What if upon the death of Strahd, Shadowfell-Barovia dissolves, dropping everyone into Prime-Material (alternate) Barovia?
