Posting pictures that I've already posted before.

A while back I posted some pics I took of how I store my minis & tiles. I just used the upload image feature.

Then recently someone asked about storing minis and I wanted to show my setup again to give them an idea. But when I tried to upload the images to my post, it said those files were already uploaded.

I could not figure out how to just show those loaded files in my new post as if I uploaded them to the new post. How do you go about doing that? I could not find any option for that in the manage attachment feature.

You can't upload the same image (even if you change the file name) twice. To work around, go to the original message where the image is attached and copy the URL to the hosted image file and post it with the IMG tags in the new post.

For example:

You're probably better off uploading your pictures to a picture album (via your profile) and inserting them into posts that way.

The post attachment system is fairly restrictive, but you can insert a picture in your picture albums into as many posts as you like.

Or just do it the way jaerdaph says.

Does the picture album allow you to provide just the thumbnails on the post so the reader can click them if he wants to view the pics?

My intention was to show about 6 pics on the same post without annoying anyone with the list of fully loaded images. The thumbnails you get when you "attach files" is a nice feature. I was just wondering if I was not using that feature correctly when I've already attached the same pics in an old post.

You can simply link to the image you have already uploaded. If you know where you have them posted, you can copy the URL from there.

I have done this a lot on the first post of the Dungeon Tiles thread (see link in sig).

Stick 'em in a spoiler block?

BTW, is there any way to see all the attachments that one has uploaded so far?

I'm pretty sure there was such an option once...

That would be useful esp. when the space for attachments allocated to the user is filling up (i.e. to delete older ones on a case by case basis).

I'm going to make a wild guess here, and bet that if you look for it you'll find it in less time than it took to type your question. :)

Actually no. I looked for it before posting and couldn't find it.

But I found it now. I actually looked there, too. Dunno, why I didn't see it then... must have been blind. ;)
