Potions

Hey, I remember seeing rules for an improved potions feat that went to 9th Level Spells, I thought it was off Monte Cook's website. Any ideas on where I can find it?

Sorry guys, not CDSaint, but Summoner.

Well, Monte's useful discussion on potions can be found at:

http://www.montecook.com/arch_stuff2.html

But I don't recall any discussion of a feat that allowed more powerful potions. That said, as a House Rule, I do allow more powerful potions, but I require the prospective Potion Brewer to research the formula, inmuch the same way they'd have to research a spell. In truth, high level potions are so expensive they are rarely worth the cost to make them.

While we are on the topic. Isn't it too difficult to identify potions? The DCs for identifying potions is fine with me but the time requirement and the cost (1gp) is too much. In 2ed it was a good thing that you couldn't identify potions on the fly since there were risks involved when mixing potions. Nowadays the restrictions aren't necessary anymore. It's just a hassle trying to keep track of unlabeled potions for both DM and players. I don't think it would hurt the game if you could identify a potion with an alchemy check as a full round action.

To be honest I'd say there are still risks involved in potions, at least in my games (the necromancer nearly swigged a potion of Cause Disease not long ago! :p).
