POW mutants and masterminds BAMF

First Post
I've had mutants and masterminds for I don't know a week now, and dang it is the coolest thing since sliced bread.

1. I absolutely love the damage save and I'm definetly considering altering all my d20 games to using it. It is especially fitting for the fast pased action of your comic book heros.

2. characrter design, WOW maybe not as flexible as champions but it comes close.

3. cool art, good layout. Big plusses in my book. I want to see more of Mr. Mystery.

4. hey its d20 open license easy to play and understand.

5. the rules rock. Well balanced easy to read, with just enough flavor to help you get your game going.

It is my favorite supers system out there, and normally I'm a hero freak. I'm sure other people have their favorites especially those who designed another system and are lurking here about. But nyah I'm talking about Mutants and Masterminds in this thread.

(Disclaimer I aint saying other systems don't have thier merits especially since I may steal things from other sytems to incorperate into my M&M games, but that M&M happens to be my favorite.)

I'm still waiting around for it to turn up locally. Of the systems I've played my fave still is the old pre-SAGA Marvel Superheroes.

That is a problem I have when I tell the guys at the store about M&M, it is difficult to describe without mislabling it.

If you say it's almost as easy as post SAGA Marvel, people get the wrong idea. If I says it a point buy like GURPS, Champions or SAS they get another inaccurate idea.

At least you can say that the look of the book is on par with the best from any other company and people get a good idea.

lol
I came into this thread because I saw the "BAMF" tag at the end of the title. Most of my friends who know my game nick call me that for short. I thought, "Why would he ask me a question about M&M?" :D

cya :)

Oh and yes, I do know another meaning for it. ;)

Damn!!! I thought you had a writeup on the X Men's Nightcrawler :). Speaking of writeups, post a few in the rogues(spl) gallery so we'll know how the system works

Admittedly I've only skimmed thru M&M and can see how to create many heroes or villains.

I do have 1 question (for now) which hopefully someone else can answer. How would you recreate the Hulk's ability to grow stronger the madder he gets?

That's always a tough one. I'd see two ways to do it. One give him a base level os super str, and then +10 or so super str beyond that and have it grow at a set rate like +1 per round or 2 rounds as a flaw on those bonus 10 sper str.

The other is to give a set super str, and take something like absorbtion and have it feed into his super str, but agian put some flawon it to limit the rate at which it could grow.

What a fantastic game.

I have avoided supers games since old FASERIP Marvel, which was insanely flexible and easy, but ended up being too basic in the long run. Heck, I can STILL rattle off the stats for just about any Marvel characters in that system...and its been nearly 12 years since I've played it!

M&M has the closest thing to that level of flexibility I loved so much. I'm already planting the seeds of a quasi-Ultimate-Marvel campaign now...
