Power Attacking w/ a One-handed weapon Two-Handedly

If I have a one-handed weapon (a longsword), but I wield it two-handedly, can I get the 1:2 Power Attack advantage? That is, -1 to hit for +2 damage?

Yeah I know this has been brought up before, but I forget what the official ruling on this is...

SRD:
Power attack:
Special: If you attack with a two-handed weapon, or with a one-handed weapon wielded in two hands, instead add twice the number subtracted from your attack rolls.

helps? ;)

Ok, cool. For some reason I thought there was a conflict in the rules between Power Attacking with a Two-Handed Weapon and a One-Handed Weapon wielded in two hands.

Another question...

I can't seem to find the rule for this, but what/where is the rule for using a weapon in a fashion it's not meant for. Such as, can you have a Longsword deal nonlethal damage? Can you have a Whip deal lethal damage? I think you can, and that you take negatives, but where is this rule located (assuming it does exist)?

SRD said:
Nonlethal Damage with a Weapon that Deals Lethal Damage: You can use a melee weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage instead, but you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll.
Lethal Damage with a Weapon that Deals Nonlethal Damage: You can use a weapon that deals nonlethal damage, including an unarmed strike, to deal lethal damage instead, but you take a –4 penalty on your attack roll.

Located in the middle of the Combat chapter in the PHB.

Brutal Strike?

Sorry to threadjack but I was meaning to ask this anyway and its a related question.

So I've got a character with a level of Fist of Hextor from the v3.0 version of Sword & Fist - this gives him 'Brutal Strike' which allows him to nominate an extra point of damage or BAB. Combine this with the v3.5 2H-power attack and he can jack damage up for two points. Did Brutal Strike get changed in v3.5 to account for this?

Its not such a big thing at the moment as he's only got the +1 version of the feat, but if he progressed up to the +5 version he could do a five point power attack (10 points of extra damage) at his normal BAB.

Regards
Luke
