Power Source Differentiation

Ive always taken things as they come...

Sleep is an example, (and saves in general) as the group used to play 3.5, we were very unhappy with the new sleep.

First, I made it so monster fail saves on 10... Then sleep induces a -2 to save.

So, my group would be no stranger to me saying "Wait wait wait, that power is too much being used multiple times, its going to get a new keyword..."

"True Encounter"
This power can only be used once per encounter, regardless of points.

"True Daily"
Duh.

Wow it really took me a couple of reads before I got where what you were saying connected to anything else... I must be sleepy.

Basically any alternate system devised for freely powering/reusable powers is going to reveal powers that are broken ...ie... not just situationally useful... but intrinsically more powerful than others of comparable cost. You lock the reuse of those down by reinforcing the original limit?

It occured to me that you could re-envison Battlerager vigor in terms of this... the Battlerager is using adrenaline points to suppress damage ... ie trading adrenaline points for temporary hitpoints.... he is giving up flexible powers for raw pain suppressed mindlessness... some people think brv needs reined in I am not totally convinced, but if you want it ;-)

The first idea I had was use temp hitpoints directly in place of your adrenaline points.
