Hey, there's a good idea. Take a peek back at that spell and see how they handled it.

Still, the Sorcerer Test is an important one (aka the Repeat Spell test):

If a sorcerer can get through a combat with a single spell, you've got problems. It doesn't really matter whether he's doing damage or paralyzing or blinding or enfeebling or whatever-- if he can cast one spell and keep zapping someone new every round... well...

Looked in my FRCS. They made it an "Instantaneous" duration spell, 1d8 fire damage (5d8 max) with (IIRC) multiple rays. :(
