Daren turned as he was walking down the trail, sensing the eyes upon him again, the sixth time in the past hour, ever since he entered the woods of Elmoranth, home of the elves.
Spinning about he crouched low as if expecting a arrow to be wizzing over his head. Listening he heard nothing, just the faint sounds of the trees swaying high above in the summer winds.
Looking about all he was were shades of green and brown, mixed in floral pattern, leaves fluttering when the rogue breeze broke through from the above canopy disturbing the lower plant life.
There! off no more than 20' was a pair of yellowish eyes peering from under a small fern. Pulling his long sword in a single move he dashed to the base of the fern, jumping through he swung his blade in a low wide arc!
Nothing! Swearing to himself he quickly brushed away several bushes that were next to the fern. Nothing! He could of sworn he saw the eyes again! Crouching again he waited...listening for atleast 10 minutes before moving back onto the trail and heading on.
Climbing over a large root from of a mamoth tree Daren felt a quick breeze flow past his face...
Thisen had been following the human for almost an hour now. He was sent on his daily patrol when he crossed the tracks the careless human had left. Following them, he quickly found the human thrashing through the woods.
He decided he would follow the human for a bit to see what level of threat he was before dispatching him, for humans were forbidden in the woods of Elmoranth.
Several times Thisen cursed himself as he stepped on a broken branch, snapping under even his practiced step. His master Leafrunner would have put him hard if had witnessed the poor skills, but it was only his second week scouting on his own. He would have to practice his steps better as each time the human stopped and turned. Thisen crouched down waiting for the human to continue moving on.
The first several times, the human only looked about with a worried expression. Then a few times he would thrash about swinging his sword. Once he even got close, and Thisen deftly moved away before the human even noticed.
It was then that Thisen stepped on a broken bird's egg. The human had been paying much more attention now and caught the noise. Dropping down below a fern Thisen waited to see what the human would do. All of a sudden the human looked at Thisen and charged. Thisen slipted quietly behind a bush about 5' away as his master had tought him. The human jumped through the fern slashing away at thin air. Thisen smiled to himself, then he thought enough playing with this human. He slipped away as the slashed about even more.
Waiting quietly at a small bend in the trail, Thisen had two arrows notched and 3 more stuck softly into the ground next to him. As the human lumbered over the tree roots Thisen let his arrows fly...
Daren brushed away, what he thought was the wind blowing in his face and then went to climb down the far side of the root when he noticed his body didn't move. Looking down he noticed five arrow shafts burried deep into his chest. Looking about with a stunned glance darkness enveloped him..
The elves like their forests, they rarely like humans or other races protruding into their homes. The Elven Forest Protector is a prestige class for such secluded elves.

Skills: Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (geography) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Listen (Wis), Move Silently (Dex), Profession (Wis), Search (Int), Spot (Wis), Survival (Wis) and Use Rope (Dex).
Forest Movement(Ex): - An EFP is at home in the woods. As such they gain a +5 to their movement rate. They may move through any sort of undergrowth (such as natural thorns, briars, overgrown areas, and similar terrain) at his normal speed and without taking damage or suffering any other impairment. However, thorns, briars, and overgrown areas that are enchanted or magically manipulated to impede motion still affect him. The EFP gains an additional +5 movement at 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th level.
They also gain a reduction to any penalties associated with movement, from either moving while hiding, tracking, moving silently, etc. Thus at first level the penalty for moving more than half your speed while hiding is reduced from -5 to zero(0), or if moving silently the penalty is reduced from -20 to -15. The EFP gains an additional -5 reduction to any movement penalties at 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th level. It will never give a bonus if a penalty reduction is greater than the penalty.
Forest Expertise - Each time a character gains forest expertise the character can select from one of the following abilities.
Trackless(Ex): - An EFP can move through wooded area and remain virtually trackless. The character gains a +20 bonus to his survival skill to avoid being tracked. This ability can only be taken once.
Forest Expert(Ex): - An EFP gains a +3 unnamed bonus to either survival, move silently, hide, spot or listen. This can be taken more than once but each time for a different skill and never for the same skill twice.
Spell Advancement: - An EFP gains spells as if he had advanced a level in his original spell casting class. He only gains the additional spells and nothing else. This feat can be taken multiple times.
Tree Hide(Su): - An EFP can use an Tree Shape once per day for every 3 levels of EFP. This can only be taken once.
Speak with Plant(Su): - An EFP can use Speak with Plants once per day for every 2 levels of EFP. This can only be taken once.
Slip away (Ex): An EFP can hide in plain sight anytime he is within forested surroundings.
Ranged Sneak Attack(Ex): An EFP becomes so proficient with a bow that they may make a ranged sneak attack dealing an extra +1d6 damage to any opponent that is denied their Dexterity bonus. This sneak attack is only good against creatures that are subject to sneak attack, creatures such as Golems, Undead and such are not effected by such attacks.
A EFP may only take the Ranged Sneak Attack ability a maximum of their EFP level / 3. So an EFP can first take RSA at 3rd level and then not again till 6th. This ranged sneak attack stacks with any other ranged sneak attack ability the EFP may have, though not normal melee sneak attacks such as that offered by the rogue.
Skill Mastery: (Ex) The EFP becomes so certain in the use of certain skills that they can use them reliably even under adverse conditions.
Upon gaining this ability, the EFP can select a skill in which they already have the Forest Expert for, then when making a skill check with that skill, they may take 10 even if stress and distractions would normally prevent them from doing so. A EFP may gain this special ability multiple times, selecting an additional skill for it to apply to each time.
