D&D 4E [Pre-4E] "The Shadow of Set" [Roster Set]

Note to everyone -

Please read the character guidelines in the beginning of this thread. I'm not allowing any non-core classes, races, etc other than what is stated there (aside from one or two allowances above). Please keep this in mind when you're considering a submission.

We'll convert to 4E when the time comes, but not before. I'm aware that the bard and monk may be going away or changing, but that's not set in stone, and until December (at the earliest), I'm not making sweeping changes to the game.

And no, it's not too late for a submission. It's open until tomorrow.

In terms of the books and options we're using, everything from UA is available online (see the links I posted). The only class you won't be able to play without the book is a Druid, and even then, if you have a good concept, I might be willing to post a primer on the changes from PHB2.

Makes sense to me. Monk it is then. :D

Heh. Unless, of course, your work firewall eats the links. I'll try and come up
with something tonight from home.

NOTE:
I'm cutting off the character concept submissions FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 at 8:00PM (U.S. Eastern). Please have your ideas posted by then.

I will have a decision of the final four or five characters by MONDAY, AUGUST 27, posted by around 8:00PM (U.S. Eastern). At that time, I'll create a new thread for OOC discussion and character creation, as well as an RG thread where you can post your completed characters.

I'd like to start the IC thread by the following weekend if at all possible (it's a long weekend for me since I'm taking some vacation).

Ahhh-h, I see. Well, I didn't know it was competitive for four or five players,
and I don't want to take away from someone else. I'll pass.

All right, everyone. Thanks for your submissions. The recruiting period has now ended. I should have the final decisions ready in a few days.

Great, thanks for the notice! I'll be waiting with bated breath. :)

STARTING ROSTER
Note that the decision on including or not including characters was based on several factors. First and foremost, I need a group of characters that I think will work well together. Second, and this is important as well, I wanted to see fairly well thought out concepts, especially those that demonstrated they'd read at least some of the background and setting I posted, and posted ideas that included the things I asked for. Third, and this will be important down the road, I need characters that will translate well to what I know so far about 4E.

Finally, I've decided to open the group to six characters, mostly because I had quite a few good concepts and I also wanted to craft a balanced group.

Without further ado, here they are...

Droban Ironthane, Dwarven Fighter - YeOldeAlbatross
Isphet the Moneylender, Human Rogue - Sound of Azure
Asad the Silent, Human Monk - Redclaw
Dirk Redhand, Desert Half-Orc Ranger - Necro_Kinder
G'Sharn Siroc, Halfling Druid - Rolzup
Avardis, Human Battle Sorcerer - Ilium

Next, I will create an OOC thread so that you can discuss your character creations. I'd like to have everything done by this coming weekend if possible. 1st level characters shouldn't be all that difficult. Also, I have some ideas on how to get your crew together, but we may have a short period where we have two separate groups. I'll try to keep this 'separation period' as short as possible.
