It seems not all SRD prestige classes made it into the enhancement. Off the top of my head, Archmage, Dwarven Defender, and Horizon Walker aren't present.

Yes, that's correct. The Thaumaturgist also did not make it and neither did the Blackguard and there might even be more. There were some musings on why this might be on the Paizo blog.

They said: they don't want an archemage (they said they beefed up the casters enough).

No Blackguard: planning it as a base class.

They thought no one used Horizion Walker so didn't upgrade it.

They decided that Dwarven Defender was too much to fit in the PDF (is that really a space issue?).

Space is an issue when you are designing a chapter to fit into the final, printed rulebook, hence the loss of the Dwarven Defender.

I am hopeful about the addition of a blackguard core class, but I'll still miss the dwarven defender. I also think that the Pathfinder chronicler sort of serves the purpose of the horizon walker - a wandering, ranger + sort of class with a number of small magical benefits.

I also noticed that "spells" is in the SA list on the table of the assassin, but is not referred to in the text. I'm assuming that's a typo?

The saving throw progressions are rather different from their former Dungeons & Dragons counterparts. Was this done on purpose to avoid too awesome saving throws by picking up prestige classes? I see that if you combine, say a 10th-level rogue with 10 levels of assassin, you get a base Reflex save bonus of +12 just like you would have got with being a 20th-level rogue. It's a kind of strange to see a new progression for saves considering we're used to the ½ level + 2 for good saves and 1/3 level for bad saves, but it looks reasonable.

Am I missing something on the Assassin entry? It has "spells" listed as a class ability, but no spell progression on the table, and no reference in the class ability description. Is this an oversight by Paizo, or was "spells" mistakenly printed?

Paizo said it was an error on their site.

They don't want the assassin casting spells.
