Prestige classes that Bump stats?

I'd like to get some opinions on Prestige classes, such as the warshaper, that bump stats..

Now, I'd like to clarify that I think the Prestige classes are a bit different than Racial Hitdice, which might bump stats- those are a bit of a hack, to try to build a lower-level monster and advance them..

I also feel that Paragon classes are along that line- trying to give Racial Hitdice to humans..

That being said, in looking over classes that bump stats, I'm worried that they are a bit unblanced, even for a Prestige class. The warshapper gives a character +4 to two stats.. If a character took four Prestige classes that did that, you could get +16 to two of your character's stats, over a 20 level arc..

This seems a bit broken to me, but one of my players disagrees.. The closest I can find is the Rage ability, but that is limited to X/times each day..

Forsaker (3.0) gave +1 to a stat per level. Of course, you couldn't use magic.

As I am reading the Warshaper description, I came across a little passage you might have overlooked (p. 90)

The class features function only when the warshaper is in a form other than her own

Which is to say that a warshaper doesn't gain +4 to STR and CON. She gains such bonuses only when in another form, which is to say, a couple of times a day, since most characters that will get into this class are druids.

Or lycanthropes of course, and these guys can't just waltz in broad daylight as they please in hybrid form yo get the +4Str/Con.

Apply the Warshaper ability to a Doppleganger or a Succubus. That's who'd be gettingthe abilities in e1ven's campaign. Those critters almost never take their normal forms. And, why would you? -4 Strength and Constitutuon!

IIRC there are a number of prestige classes in AEG's Way of the Samurai that increase stats.

The Warshaper ability only functions in shape form
Dragon Disciple and even all templates increase several stats if you can pay the cost of that (in levels of course)
