However, nethermancer is a completely stupid name. It's confusingly similar to necromancer and it sounds moronic.

I rather like it. I find it makes a decent divide between Death Magic and Shadow Magic which have long overlapped when they don't always need to do so.

Whenever you inflict necrotic damage to a creature with necrotic resistance, you or one ally within 5 squares of you gains temporary hit points equal to the creature's necrotic resistance.

The necromancer fighting a Dracolich will cry tears of truly delicious pain when he immediately realizes this doesn't work at all (Dracolich prevents a target gaining temp HP in its aura).
