The Caller in the Darkness looks a bit "dreamblady' for my liking. I don't think that much of it. At least your players will be able to say that they attack the darkness though! :D

The Monolith looks a little Final Fantasy looking to me. I like it though.

The pentifex monolith, for those who might not recognize it, is one of the sample characters in Magic of Incarnum. Which I think is neat.

Otherwise, this preview really was pretty empty. They have been the last few months. A disappointment - this time last year, it was my favorite feature on the site.

Demiurge out.

It answered a couple of questions I had about the Magic Item Compendium this time. It looks more and more like a definite buy from me. I'm a sucker for magic items though. I bought all 4 of the Encyclopedia Magica books from 2E AD&D.

2007 seems to be the year of the adventures though.

I think the Caller is in my Must Have column, along with the Undead Beholder.

Didn't some of his comments seem a little snarky and fed up? ;)

He just seemed a little tired and overworked to me. Someone at Wizards was probably on his case about getting the article out since it was already a week overdue.

I definitely agree with the Undead Beholder. That might end up being the rare from the set that everyone wants. I hope that everyone else loves the Caller. That will make it easier for me to trade to someone if I get a couple of them.
