Price of the PHBI, or a wild guess?

Gotta love the book publishing industry. Our dollars are virtually on par, but they're still printing books and magazines with a 30% exchange rate.
One may note my preference for purchasing my roleplaying game books from online retailers with US dollars.

...and then pay customs to read the book. It ends up costing me just as much, if not more, to order from the US. Amazon.ca's price will lower, I'm sure.

I've gotten shipping charges, but never a customs bill. Shipping charges generally work out to about the difference, sure, but for convenience (I work nights and it's always faster than special orders) I'll take the...um...same price. ;)

Why do the customs people hate me? :( Or does your supplier mark it as a 'gift'? I try to that on eBay to avoid hassles.

Wow, by lower, I didn't mean $6 lower than Amazon.com. I'll buy my own books at my FLGS, but I'm getting a PHB for all my players when their birthdays come around, and I think Amazon is the way to go there.

I've gotten a couple items marked as a gift unexpectedly, but I suspect the difference may be provincial tariffs on books. If not that, I have no idea...I try to not to over-examine it for fear of jinxing things. When not eBay'd I go with FRPGames, just in case it's something they do.

I preordered it from Amazon, but if they don't drop the price before it ships I will cancel and hit the FLGS for a copy *(provided they are selling it for $29.95)

All of this talk about Canada makes me think, once again, that a "just over the border" store that sells books, movies, and games would be an excellent idea. It would be far better than most businesses I see "just over the border..." ;)

To the point of the OP: I'd say $30 per book to start with, and $35-40 in a year or so. This new age will finally push me to go with the deep discounters, I'm afraid.
