Price that Ioun Stone!

I was wondering what people think the price should be on an Ioun stone that allows you to cast 0th level spells as a 1st level sorcerer. Ideas?

I'd say 5000 GP, though I'd probably require a command activated item rather than actually granting the player spell casting ability. Being able to use 2 cantrips a total of 5 times per day isn't going to break anything. I originally though 2,500, but its slotless.

Agreed, unless the player is trying to sneak into some prestige class with 'cast arcane spells' as a pre-req.

I don't know many DMs who allow magic items to count as prerequisites for prestige classes.

An item that allows you to cast spells "as a sorcerer" is badly designed. Instead, the item should have the ability to cast a specific cantrip(s) a fixed number of times a day. It will be much easier to price the item if it's designed properly.

that doesn't sound like an ioun stone, which basically affect their user in various protective or enhancing ways.

How about a floating magic eye that casts detect magic? That might be cool.
