D&D 5E Princes of the Apocalypse campaign recaps

Question - with the Node closed, would any fire creatures from the Fire node be sucked back in too? I really want to keep the myrmidons, and salamanders, and fire roper, and fire bats and stuff, not JUST the human dudes.

ALSO - With Vanifer and the Fire Dagger, AND the Fane active, could she potentially open the Fire Node again and resummon Imix? I think she could, but it would take months.

I don't see why. I'm not entirely sure without checking (and I don't have the book with me) whether the fire creatures are actually supposed to have been summoned through the fire node or by other means. Even if they did come through the fire node I would say it's just like a door shutting - they're on this side so that's where they stay. Indeed, I'd go so far as to say they might actually be stuck on the material plane with no way to get back (short of magical help).

I might be tempted to tone down the heat effects in the fire node area though.

I would concur 100% on that.

Still not nearly done! A near disastrous side trek took them to the Fane of the Eye....and the most potent enemies in the entire module...The Triad. (well, I made them up, but they're the worst of anybody :)

That is one seriously nasty fight ... and that's only so far!! Looking forward to seeing if your PCs can get out of this.

Continuing the "could be a TPK" theme - albeit at a much lower level - I nearly had one when my PCs (only level 3) decided to take on the Sacred Stone Monastery. They are currently in bad shape, entirely out of spells and running for their lives down the hill pursued by a number of monks. I'm thinking they'll get rescued by the Feathergale knights and taken off to Feathergale Spire - a bit of a railroady solution, but it will get them back on track.

Sacred Stone would have been a massacre at 3rd level! That was one of our favorite fights of the campaign, the monastery, because the PCs had convinced (tricked) the remnants of the Air cult into thinking that Serena was the Air Prophet replacement for Aerisi, and they had all the air cultists attack the black earth cultists, and the PCs just walked in to mop up the leftovers.

Yeah, I probably messed up by giving out too many hooks. I thought the party (which is actually only one player handling four PCs) would opt for Feathergale Spire, particularly as there's a strong personal motive for one of the PCs, but no ... they decided to investigate the missing caravan first, found the dead monk at the ambush site and the rest is history ...

Waazat? One person is running 4 PCs? Hell, my players don't even like running 2, they miss little details. Well, at higher level anyway when the options start building up.

Well the player in question is my daughter - living at home again as she can't really afford to rent in London. It makes things very convenient for (re)scheduling sessions, but, yeah, it's not great from a gameplay perspective. Combat can go fairly slowly at times - and I dare say it will get worse at higher levels - but we're both having fun, which is the main thing. :)
