This just occurred to me, and I feel dumb for not thinking of it before.
1) Find artwork for a monster you need in the next adventure.
2) Zoom out in paint program until said artwork is right scale.
3) Print out, glue to cardboard or plastic base or token.
Walah. Unlimited miniatures on the really cheap, which look good to boot. No need to paint them, either. And you can do the same for the terrain they're on, such as dungeon floorplans. Only drawback is that they're 2D rather than 3D. And you might go through quite a few ink cartridges.
