Probing for interest in a Slavic-themed game

First Post
I'm thinking of starting a Slavic-themed PbP game using Frost and Fur and Frostburn for material and inspirations, as well as my knowledge of Russian history, geography, and legends.

I'm wondering how much interest there is?

Rules would definitely be 3.5, and characters would probably start at 1st level.

THis is not a recruitment thread; I'll post a separate one for that.

Sounds interesting. Would the players need to own either/both of the cold books?
Well, that's the tricky part. It's hard to use material from the books if the players don't have it. I'm guessing not to many have frost and fur. I'd probably try to design it so tht owning either wasn't necessary, but useful.

I would say you could at least use all the environmental effects out of those books, since that's DM territory anyway. Some players should probably have access to one/both of the books, but it probably wouldn't take too much away from the game's theme if a couple players don't have the book(s).

Well, since you're probing ...

I like what I'm reading in Frostburn to the degree where I just turned the group in the game I run North :). I'd be interested in this game if you choose to start it up.

If I wasn't in two already and running a third I would be very interested.

Classes I assume there are some core ones available in any of the sample settings.

Things you could use as a DM without players needing to have the books:

The sample settings,

The environmental rules,

The monsters,

Classes for npcs or if it is simple to explain for the PCs too.

Magic for items found and spells used by npcs or that you tell pcs are available to them.

Normally you have to go to a different system like d20 modern, everquest, Grim tales, Arcana Unearthed, etc. to not have a player able to play using materials from the core rules. Campaign specific restrictions and options are one thing, but most settings will at least let you play a human fighter or rogue.

Sounds as if it could be quite interesting. I think the whole Slavic milieu is one not used enough in gaming. Don't have either of the Frost books, though. I'd be interested if anything got started up, though.
