No change to the protection spells. Some things that detect as evil aren't included in the Prot frm Evil.

And do you use symmetry for all clerics (i.e. evil clerics of a neutral deity will not not be detected as evil) ?

They will also register as Evil because they themselves are "evil creatures".

Those are the rules as presented in the books. Obviously this introduces a little bit of uncertainty and ambiguity with the Detect Evil spell. I am saying that I have no problem with this uncertainty and ambiguity.
