Problems with Return to Temple of Elemental Evil

Nyarlathotep

I've been DMing this adventure for my group for the last couple of months and the group is just finishing off moathouse (we're slow... incredibly slow). While I like the adventure quite a bit, there are a great many small errors in it that make it a difficult adventure to DM. I'm posting all the problems that I've discovered to date and was hoping that you all could post any other errors and misinformation that you've found while DMing it.

The Moathouse: (in no particular order)

Greynor Tam:

According to the description in room 30, Greynor has a key for the locked box, but it is not listed in his inventory. When the box is opened it says that there are several sheets of paper that make up Greynor's journal. If that's the case, what does the journal listed in Greynor's inventory contain?

Pulley Platform in area 32:

There is no description for how quickly a character can raise or lower the platform, sort of an essential bit of information considering the group is attacked by a Grell while descending the second pulley. I ruled that it could be raised 20' round with a Full-round action or lowered 30' round with a Full-round action.

Grell:

While Grells have the ability to regenerate severed tentacles in a day, I didn't see any description about severing tentacles. While playing I ruled this information on the fly, but it would have been nice to have some kind of official ruling on this.

The Crater Ridge Mines

Temple to Moradin:
The room description mentions "two large gems glisten[ing] as if on fire", but doesn't tell you in the DM's section what they are or their value.

I'll post more as I find them. Please post any other things of this nature that you discovered. I'd also like some advice on how to make the Crater Ridge Mines seem more dynamic and would like to hear how you all DM'd it so that it wasn't just another dungeon crawl.

Thanks!

Don't worry, didn't read it. Just thought I'd move it to the front again.

What am I saying!? It don't matter, I'm dead!

hmmm. I've been running it for a few weeks and haven't encountered any HUGE problems. I Do know that the stats for a bugbear in the CRM are missing but we haven't reached that point. Check out www.montecook.com and go to the boards there - there are many very nice people there who will give you some helpful links. Overall, the adventure has a few bugs but I'm loving it - you just gotta roll with the little missing things or make em up.

Personally I think those are non-issues, stuff I'd just rule on the fly as and when necessary.

The only things that I consider real problems are those instances where stat blocks contain mistakes - e.g. the AC calculation wasn't quite right in a few places IIRC.

d12 is right though - Monte Cooks message boards are the absolute best place to get clarification on questions for the temple.

Cheers
