I'm pretty sure they mean you get a 60x60x60 ft. cube each level.

If that were not the case, it would be a 3.9x3.9x3.9 ft. cube, which would not only be small but really hard to fit to a grid. And we know how much Wizards likes the grid.

I found this explanation in PHB AD&D p. 129:
'Thus a cloud that has a 10-foot cube per caster level might (...) have dimensions 10' x 10' x 120' '.
Is it actual in 3,5?

Someone told me that a word "cube" means the same what "cubic" and both are equal ways to express capacity in USA. Is he right?
