Profession and Perform synergies

Hi all,

I'm a plotting out a list of new synergies for house rules in my next campaign>

Here is what I have so far -

Perform (Act): 5 ranks = +2 to Disguise
Perform (Dance): 5 ranks = +2 to Balance
Perform (Oratory): 5 ranks = +2 to Bluff, +2 to Diplomacy
Profession (Herbalist): 5 ranks = +2 to Heal
Profession (Hunter): 5 ranks = +2 to Survival, +2 to Knowledge (Nature)
Profession (Miner): 5 ranks +2 to Knowledge (Dungeoneering), +2 on Stonecunning checks

Do these seem balanced, or am I giving too much away?

Perform (Act): 5 ranks = +2 to Disguise when acting in character (same as the Bluff bonus)

Perform (Dance): 5 ranks = +2 to Balance
Looks good

Perform (Oratory): 5 ranks = +2 to Bluff, +2 to Diplomacy
I like this, very appropriate. The Bluff bonus shouldn't apply to message transmission or feinting. Perhaps the Diplomacy bonus only applies when using the skill for the normal 1 minute time, but not when you rush (ruins the Oratory when you rush, see?)

Profession (Herbalist): 5 ranks = +2 to Heal
You know, I thought it already did this, but it doesn't. Wierd. :\

Profession (Hunter): 5 ranks = +2 to Survival, +2 to Knowledge (Nature)
I would limit the Survival checks to Tracking only, and the Knowledge (Nature) checks to relate only to information on Animals, Plants, and Vermin.

Profession (Miner): 5 ranks +2 to Knowledge (Dungeoneering), +2 on Stonecunning checks
Very Flavourful. I like-ee
 


Here are some I use:

Profession (hunter): 5 or more ranks in the profession (hunter) skill grants a +2 synergy bonus to hide, move silently and on tracking checks when in natural surroundings.

Profession (sailor): 5 or more ranks in the profession (sailor) skill grants a +2 synergy bonus to balance, climb, and use rope checks made aboard a ship, and to survival checks when used to predict weather. Any Profession (sailor) checks made to control or navigate a ship requires a full crew (called a 'watch'), for every quarter (or part thereof) less than the full watch the DC is increased by +5.

Profession (soldier): 5 or more ranks in the profession (soldier) skill grants a +2 synergy bonus to listen and spot checks while on watch. In addition, a profession (soldier) check against DC 10 grants a +2 to Constitution checks made during a forced march. The profession check must be made with each required Con check.
 

No worries. Thanks for bringing it up. I haven't actually thought about skill synergies for some time. I'm usually trying to make my ridiculous ideas into house rules... and trying to make it actually legible.

I wonder why they removed it? Perhaps they were de-emphasizing Profession as a skill or thought 5 ranks placed in a Profession was too 'crippling' / 'costly' to the creation of an adventuring PC?
