A mechanic which allows my character to meet progressively greater challenges, as he devotes his time and energy to improving in his chosen field - and to <strong>fail</strong> from time to time, because that's the way life is - that's what would get my vote!</p><p></p><p>Sure, it's not for everyone - and I'm perfectly happy to play my wizard, or my rogue, or my paladin, as well - but I certainly welcome the fact that we have at least some mechanic for dealing with non-adventuring skills like Craft, and Profession.
