Profit warning hits Games Workshop

Looked at the current prices of vehicles. Most are between $35-$55, with a few a little more. Based on the vehicles I already have, the kits are roughly equivalent (in terms of size) with 1/35 scale vehicles (though perhaps not in complexity), making the prices consistent with mid- to -high end 1/35 scale military kits, such as from Academy and (more importantly) Tamiya. Although GW's models are MUCh simpler (I don't recall any having more than a hundred pieces, while I've built 1/35 scale afv models with somewhere in the neighbourhood of 700 pieces).

Hi,

I think their profits warning will have something to do with the general slow down in retail in the UK too. I work in retail and it's been very tough going for the last 6 months plus, particularly in London.

I went into the GW store in Bluewater a couple of weeks ago and ended up buying a couple of minis and some paints. One of the figures was a really cool ogre at £9.00 and the other was a lizardman of some sort that cost nearly as much, despite being much lighter in terms of metal used. I used to think Rackham's figures were very expensive but they're actually not bad compared to GW (as well as being the best figures out there IMO).
