Profound sayings?

Considering how many engineers and computer programmers frequent this board, I'm surprised nobody has quoted Saint-Exupery yet.

A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.

A civilization is built on what is required of men, not on that which is provided for them.

True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new.

I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind.

Pure logic is the ruin of the spirit.

Each man must look to himself to teach him the meaning of life. It is not something discovered: it is something molded.

One can be a brother only in something. Where there is no tie that binds men, men are not united but merely lined up.

Tell me who admires and loves you, and I will tell you who you are.

This one is probably most applicable to D20 & D&D:

You know you've achieved perfection in design, not when you have nothing more to add, but when you have nothing more to take away.

And let us never forget:

It's a snake, you idiot!

"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you."

"Do not walk behind me for I may not lead. Do not walk in front of me for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just bugger off and leave me alone."

These ones are all mine, I copywrited (sp?) them. Pay me everytime you use them.

"To become one with the universe, one must first achieve oneness with allness, suchness, thusness and nothingness. Then and only then can one achieve a true state of Zen."

"If you say you can't prove anything you're assuming we're living in a reality where you can't prove anything. But you can't prove that."
