Project Image and Silence

This may be a simple question.

Recently I had an NPC illusionist use Project Image against the party of PC's. A Silence spell was thrown down within the vicinity of the image by the party's cleric.

My question(s):

Does a Silence on the image prevent the image from casting spells that originate from his position?

Does a Silence on the actual caster prevent the caster from casting spells via the image?

Best guess:

It is the caster that is relevant to the spell being cast or not. The projected image only gives a different "point of origin" for the spell, once it has gone off.

If that is the case, then the silence on the projected image will not have any effect (and may cause people to realize there is a projected image, if they still hear the verbal component coming from the actual caster, and a spell coming from the image.

But a silence on the caster WILL have an effect. Any spell with a verbal component simply will not come off.

My best guess, but its not like I work for WOTC or anything.
