A few weeks ago I ran D&D for the first time with a projector along with map tools. Essentially I opened 2 instances of it on my laptop and used dual output for my projector. One instance of maptools set up a server as the GM, and then I drug the player maptools on the projector and connected that instance to the lan server my GM instance set up. The projector I am using is one of the mini portable projectors. It's got really crappy resolution but as soon as I got everything up I will never go to back to hand drawn maps if I have to, it's way too awesome/convenient.
Anyway, I recently learned of these tiny computers called Raspberry Pi. Essentially they are about the size of a credit card and can do just about anything that a regular computer can do. These RPs are pretty cheap too, like 40 bucks. They have 900 Mhz processor and a gig of ram. I'm going to attempt to get maptools up and running on them, and when I say maptools, I mean only maptools lol. Clearly the thing can not run very much as the same time, but I'm confident I can get maptools up on it. I plan on getting 2 of them, then using wifi to communicate. Each running the program and basically doing what I did on my laptop except split up.
I figured you guys might like to know how it is going to go so I'll try and come back with an update if I figure out how to make it actually work. If anyone is interested in the RP itself, here is a link to the product im getting...

While I said that the RPs can be bought for around 40 bucks, I was not lying, you can get them that cheap, seeing as this is my first time messing around with one though, Im getting the starter kit which is slightly more expensive (as shown in the link). The starter kit comes with a wifi attachment, and 8bg SD card powersupply etc etc. So It's a really awesome deal.
