Prone Movement

This should be a simple one.

Can a character move while prone?

A player has a monk with the improved trip and while it hasn't come up yet, I'm sure that the scenario of a knocked down individual moving before getting up will come up as getting up from prone is an AoO.

I've looked under Trip, Improved Trip and movement in combat but must be missing it.

Crawling: You can crawl 5 feet as a move action. Crawling incurs attacks of opportunity from any attackers who threaten you at any point of your crawl.

Well, according to the timestamps, it was over an hour between question and answer. It was just the Camarath and I happened to answer at almost the same time.

(Well, okay. We'd been staring each other down since JoeGKushner posted, and when I saw him reach for the "Submit Reply" button, I nailed him. But I wanted to sound modest :) )

I don't recall where I read it first, but I use the concepts of a "high crawl" (considered kneeling) and "low crawl" (considered prone). Both use the same mechanics except for the things that are specifically different between the two conditions (attack and defence modifiers, type of actions to resume standing, etc.).
