proposal for a single thread about Iraq

I would like to propose a single ot thread created by the admins for polite and intelligent discussion of the events about to conspire in Iraq. This thread can serve as the relief valve for discussion, hopefully removing such discussion from other rpg oriented threads. I also believe it is only natural as people get a feel for others personalities by their posts, that one might be intrested in their views outside of the narrow scope of rpgs.


I ask that people do not discuss Iraq in this thread, and limit their comments solely to either support or opposition to this proposal.
Again please do not discuss Iraq or other political matters in this thread, ENworld has a long standing "no politics" position, any thread allowed to deviate from that policy should,(and only should) be started by an admin in an official capacity.

I like EN World as a "safe zone" from politics. The thread you propose would likely go down in flames, despite any warnings to the contrary. Views are extremely polarized on this subject, and it's sure to create a heated discussion.

Just look at the (now locked) "Green Ronin Hacked" thread...that one has the phrase "anti-war asshat" in the very first post!

And you might want to consult the first post of this announcement.

If you can't even control yourself, it only makes sense you wouldn't trust others to be able to.

It's just possible the asshat reference was in reference to the hacking, and not the anti-war. Hackers are asshats, I think we can agree on that. Fortunately, your prompt outburst shut down that thread. Good move.

But for the record, I strongly oppose it, especially if it means I can avoid any further tired, bitter, shallow leftist drivel.

Actually, if you would like to discuss politics with some of the people on these boards, I would suggest you try your luck over at www.nutkinland.com. There is a huge amount of overlap in membership...

This topic would be a very poor choice.

Tom Cashel proved in the GR thread that he cannot post without making inflammatory comments.

Also I think the fact that GR's website was hacked shows that the hackers in question are gamers and I would not be surprised if at least one of said hacker/gamers was a regular here at ENWorld. If not a gamer why else would GR's website get chosen?

Keep politics out of ENWorld.
