Protective Aura

Argh... PrC in BoED has the ability to get Protective Aura cast on them at all times. Where is this spell? I can't find it in the SRD, and it's not in the BoED. Argh!

Perhaps it means Holy Aura? Seems to fit the class (Defender of Seatiel).
Risen Martyr is the class. They get a Magic Circle Against Evil that surrounds them. It advances to a Protective Aura, and then finally a Holy Aura. So Protective Aura is something different.

I usually take it to mean the spell Bastion of Good, which functions as a double-strength Magic Circle against Evil. It is also similar to the Protective Aura ability of angels (check the MM).

EDIT: Sorry, the spell should be Bastion of Good, not Bastion of Faith.

IIRC, it's like the celestial (angel? archon?) ability of the same name... could be wrong, don't have the BoED.

Hi!

Good question; what jester proposes seems to be appropriate, 'cause no "Protective Aura" in my "spellbooks", either. :)

I'd like to know, whether someone has taken one of both PrCs and could contribute to finding the solution?

Kind regards

Check out the description of Bastion of Good (7th-level cleric spell) on pg 92 of the Book of Exalted Deeds. Then check out the description of Protective Aura for the Shiradi Eladrin (pg 171) or the Tulani Eladrin (pg 172).

Light to 20 feet - check.
Double-strength Magic Circle against Evil - check.
Lesser Glove of Invulnerability - check.

I postulate that Bastion of Good was originally named Protective Aura (possessed by angels and some eladrin). The spell got renamed (possibly and if so, ironically, to avoid confusion), but the references were not changed.

Hi!

You did a fine job - right on track!

I put that down in my books. :)

Kind regards

Yes, but is the Holy Aura spell better? Because that's what it upgrades to eventually.
