Psicrystal Destroyed

By the rules, you simply do not get a new one.

I'd allow to recreate it after a year and a day, tho.

I disagree. By the rules, there are no rules for what happens if you lose it. It simply says that the feat gives you a psicrystal. We've already had a long discussion on whether that means that:
1. You only get one
2. If you at any time don't have one, you get one, because you shouldn't lose the benefits of the feat
But that discussion is completely removed from the RAW, which has nothing to say on the subject. Which means that the issue is at the DM's discretion.

Well, the rules don't say what happens after you lose your psicrystal, so, the obvious approach is, that nothing happens after you lose a psicrystal. It's simply gone.

Anything else should be stated there, like in the familiar rules, which specify what happens in that case.

But I totally agree, that this is just stupid. :)

However, the conclusion, that you simply create a new one is not much better. :p

I like Dr. Awkward's reasoning. You spent a feat on the silly thing, you should get to use your feat.

Leadership lets you acquire replacement cohorts, but your Leadership score goes down every time one dies. I think waiting some amount of time between zero and a year and a day isn't out of line for new psicrystals. Maybe he needs to grow a crystalline tumor or something. :P

Yeah, as I said...

I don't see why it should be any different as with a familiar there.

It's also one feat (or equivalent of one feat).

Therefore I'd just apply the same rules to psicrystals, where the XPH fails to mention them.

This is most definitely something you should ask your DM about before you start putting your psicrystal in harms way, like scouting and such.

You could grab the rules out of the 3.0 Psionics handbook - page 10, if you have it handy. Very, very similar to the mechanics for a 3.5 familiar in regards to destruction & re-creation consequences and methods.

The answers on this are varied. You've seen some of them above. The 'best' way to do it in my opinion is to treat them as you would a familiar for replacements.

The opinions range from

1) NO! It is now GONE, you suxxsor!

2) Treat it like a familiar for replacement rules

3) Make another one tommorrow. If you want to wait that long. They're free, cheap, and easily replaced.

4) In fact, not only are they free, cheap, and easily replaced, the rules just say that you can make 'em, not how many or how often. Make FIVE!!
