What is the best race for a Psionic character? Is there a specific type of class that works the best with psionics? Which would be more helpfull for the Psionic power, intelligence or wisdom?

Well, assuming that you have the expanded psionics handbook and so are talking about the psionic classes as depicted there, I will say that the Psion needs intelligence. Any race that has a bonus to INT would therefore help here. (The Blue (a type of psionic goblin), described in the back of the book, is an example). But human, with that extra feat, is also a strong choice, particularly with the access to the special psionic feats (for instance, a human psion at 1st level could take the feat Psionic Talent three times and get 2 +3 +4 bonus points, and so could start at 1st level with an astonishing 11 power points before the int bonus is factored in!

For Wilder, Chr is the main attraction. Any race that helps with Chr. Again, human is awesome here.

For Psychic Warrior, there are many strong candidates. Although Wis is the stat governing psionics, str, con, and to some extent dex are good for killing things and staying alive. Again, human is good. Half-orc is also good, since its penalties are to abilities that are not that important to a psychic warrior.

For SoulKnife, str, con and dex are important. So the usual susepts, dwarf, half-orc, human, are all strong candidates.

The psionic races described in the book are not that stupendous, once you factor in the level adjustment for most of them. The ones that don't: Elan, Maenad, Xeph, are interesting, though, and might be worth a look.

Hope helps.

Yeah thanks. My friend ordered the book a couple days ago and I cant wait for it to get here. I rolled some pretty badass stats for the guy too. I got two 17's and the rest are 16's. I am guessing that the character will be pretty well balanced out. What is the best type of Psion that does the most mind damage without having to do that much of hand to hand combat. I know my guy wont be a little weak :):):):) who cant do anything. I am looking for something that I can use that will be able to control the enemy somewhat. I was thinking Kinetics or Telepath. I have yet to read the book on it so I am clueless as to the pros and cons of each. The shaper sounds nice but I have yet to read anything about it. Our DM had a goblin psionics user that was flying and had mind powers as well as when he shot arrows they got larger for more damage upon impact. I was thinking something along that line would be nice. Have strong mental damage powers and something that I could also use to better my weapons. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S what does XPH stand for?

XPH = Expanded Psionics Handbook.

Sounds like you are looking for a Psion that specializes as a Telepath or one that specializes as the Kineticist. They both use INT, but while they share a general list of choosable powers, each also has a special list from which they can choose their powers known. But it will all make more sense when you get the book. There are some good feats for weapons and such, but I would focus more on the powers.

Best of luck.

The Elan looks to be very nice for survivability. They can prevent damage and increase saves by spending power points as an immediate action. Some DMs will want to convert the race to a +1 LA though, as many feel it is too powerful for LA +0.
